H. Dwight Cavanagh, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.S., serves as Vice-Chairman for the Department of Ophthalmology and holds the Dr. W. Maxwell Thomas Chair in Ophthalmology. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the world-renowned Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine and completed specialty fellowship training at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Cavanagh is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Eye Bank Association of America, and Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology. He has received numerous awards and honors, including selection as one of the "Best Doctors in Dallas" by D Magazine, "Best Doctors in America," and as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
